This Monday (19th June 2017) a group of pupils from Woodbridge School visited our Ipswich site to learn about the Logistics industry and see what we do!
The Year 6 pupils were the winning group in The Abbey School Business Competition. The budding entrepreneurs won the competition by successfully selling hot dogs at a summer fete and were rewarded with a visit to Debach.
The day began with a talk in our boardroom with Managing Director Bee Kemball who gave an introduction about what we do and took questions from the pupils and teachers. This was followed by a short demonstration of our stock procedures as the pupils learnt what happens when a container of goods arrives into the country and is then brought into our store.
The pupils and teachers were then given a tour of the site learning about our operations whilst getting to see our Kalmar container lift and other various forklifts in action.
After a break, the group learnt about our Transport operations. The pupils were split up into three teams with each team given the opportunity to use the technology we use in the office, the challenge of routing three of our vehicles and the chance to see one of our trucks in action.
Each pupil received one of our model toy trucks as a memento and departed later in the day having had an exciting and informative experience!
